Shiatsu Society

The Shiatsu Society (UK) is the UK’s leading professional body for Shiatsu, representing practitioners, teachers and schools committed to high-quality, safe and evidence-informed practice. Established in 1981, the Society sets professional standards, accredits training programmes and maintains a national register of qualified practitioners who meet rigorous requirements for ethics and continuing professional development.

Working at the intersection of traditional East Asian bodywork and modern integrative healthcare, the Shiatsu Society promotes Shiatsu as an effective, person-centred therapy supporting physical, emotional and energetic wellbeing. The Society actively contributes to the broader integrative medicine landscape through practitioner education, collaborative research, public engagement and partnerships that explore how touch-based therapies can complement mainstream healthcare pathways.

The Shiatsu Society is dedicated to ensuring that Shiatsu is recognised as a credible, accessible and professionally delivered modality within whole-person health.
