Venita Patel
Dr Venita Patel is an experienced NHS paediatrician, and also a registered Nutritional Therapist. Further to obtaining her medical degree at St Bartholomew's (at the tender age of 21!) and postgraduate degrees in Paediatrics, she took time out to look further into the roles of nutrition and lifestyle and how they apply to health. She completed training with the College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2012, and more recently with the Institute of Functional Medicine and the Kharrazian Institute. She has also had training in Ayurveda, NLP, Hypnosis and Meditation.
Venita works for Guys and St Thomas NHS Trust as a Community Paediatrician, specialising in childhood growth and development, and runs a unique childhood obesity multidisciplinary project. Dr Patel also runs her own 'Health Via Nutrition' clinics and workshops in London, alongside other therapists and health professionals in two multidisciplinary Children's clinics.
Dr Patel is experienced in addressing a range of childhood conditions and symptoms. Her particular interests are in supporting healthy development and brain function, and neurodevelopmental issues. She also has expertise in gut health and digestive issues.
Dr Patel regularly speaks on the subjects of nutrition and lifestyle medicine, has written papers and book chapters, and is a member of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine. She believes in understanding the 'whole child', with a truly holistic yet scientific approach, addressing the root cause of any health or wellbeing concerns.
