Samantha Buckland
Samantha brings a unique fusion of clinical excellence, educational leadership, and holistic health expertise to the role of UKIHCA Director of Standards, Education & Training. An accomplished pharmacist, educator, and UKIHCA Registered Health Coach with over 25 years of professional experience spanning community, hospital, primary care, and academic pharmacy sectors, Samantha has enjoyed a portfolio career combining both patient/client facing and healthcare professional supporting positions.
Her career is defined by a deep commitment to person-centred care, with a particular focus on empowering individuals to take control of their health to prevent illness and to support those with recently diagnosed long-term conditions to support them living well, using both her health coaching and pharmacy scopes of practice.
Across her career Samantha has influenced national post-graduate pharmacy education, contributed to national pharmacy guidance and policies, developed high-impact learning programmes, and led collaborative initiatives across a variety of NHS and professional pharmacy bodies. As a pharmacy education supervisor, she brings her post-graduate experience to UKIHCA to develop work-based pathways, portfolio routes and supervision provision.
As a double-qualified professional - pharmacist, and a UKIHCA Registered Health Coach -Samantha also runs her own coaching practice, supports a local breakfast nutrition club and is known for her ability to bridge clinical expertise with holistic whole-health wellness. She holds postgraduate qualifications in Prescribing Studies and Medicines Management, a Health Coaching Level 5 Diploma, and a Statement of Teaching and Proficiency.
Known for her strategic vision, warm leadership style, and passion for lifelong learning, Samantha is dedicated to upholding the highest professional standards, cultivating the next generation of health coaches, and driving excellence in education and training across the health and wellbeing sector.
Samantha is a strong advocate for the volunteering sector with over two decades of volunteering experience to create strong communities. From working as a Street Pastor, to co-chairing a dementia friendly community, to now working as a Cub Section Lead Volunteer and additionally putting on community health challenges in her coaching spaces. This fully demonstrates her underlining ethos that “together everyone achieves more”.
