Dr Pallavi Devulapalli
Dr Pallavi (rhymes with Valerie) Devulapalli was born and raised in Hyderabad, India, where she did her medical graduation (MBBS) at Osmania Medical College. She came to the UK to do postgraduate studies, to travel and to broaden her horizons; she met and married a fellow dr while working in King's Lynn, Norfolk, and went on to become a mum to two amazing boys (now young men!). She obtained her Membership of the RCGP with a Distinction in Summer 2005.
She also has a postgraduate Diploma in Practical Dermatology from Cardiff UWCM and leads a community-based skin lesion service.
She is currently Lead GP at a growing 4,900 patient practice in Downham Market, a small market town in south-west Norfolk.
Pallavi is a district and parish councillor, a trustee of CPRE Norfolk, a member of the KL branch of Soroptomists International and a supporter of several local environmental groups. She enjoys eating out, listening to music and podcasts and going for walks in the countryside.
She has always had a keen interest in holistic practice, having an intuitive understanding of Ayurveda (classical Indian system of medicine and therapeutics), from growing up in a culture where people 'prescribed' home remedies and successfully cured most things.
She is keenly aware of the limitations of allopathic medicine as it is taught and practised here, and is interested to go back to basics in her practice, and to empower her patients to choose better lifestyle choices for themselves.
Pallavi says 'So much of the chronic disease burden in the west is due to poor diets and lifestyles, and ignorance of these issues, and over-reliance on pharmaceutical cures, is devastating our health, as well as our economy.'
