Dr Kat Toups
Kat Toups, MD is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (the highest honor bestowed by the APA), and a certified practitioner with the Institute for Functional Medicine.
Dr. Toups is a Functional Medicine psychiatrist, clinical researcher, and thought leader in the field of cognitive health. She has been a featured speaker at national and international medical conferences on dementia and functional medicine psychiatry, as well as a frequent guest on podcasts and summits. She is also the author of several chapters in medical textbooks.
Her specialty is reversing dementia using a multi-modal Precision Medicine approach. She collaborated with Dr. Dale Bredesen as the Principal Investigator on two prospective clinical trials using a functional medicine/precision medicine approach to reverse mild cognitive impairment and early dementia. In the first trial, 84% of patients showed improvement, including on their brain scans. The paper, “Precision Medicine Approach to Alzheimer’s Disease: Successful Pilot Project,” was published in the prestigious Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease in July 2022, along with 2 subsequent papers.
She will report on the groundbreaking results from the recent larger randomized clinical trial using Precision Medicine for reversing MCI and early dementia.
