Dr Joseph Smith
Dr. Joseph P. Smith is a board-certified chiropractic neurologist through the American Chiropractic Neurology Board and a fellow of the American College of Functional Neurology, the American Board of Child Developmental Disorders, and the American Board of Neurochemistry and Nutrition, with specialties in neurodegeneration and child developmental disorders. He has earned diplomate status through the International College of Applied Kinesiology, as well as the American Chiropractic Neurology Board.
Dr. Smith earned his doctor of chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University and his bachelor of science in psychology from North Dakota State University. He has been speaking internationally on the topics of applied kinesiology and Functional Medicine since 2008.
He held an adjunct faculty position at the University of Mary in Fargo, North Dakota until 2008. He is the founder of Atlas Health, a nonprofit organization that educates the public on nutritional concepts and controversies and has two offices in California, located in Fairfax and San Francisco. Dr. Smith is a dedicated learner and is constantly undergoing additional education in the fields of nutrition and neuroendocrine immunology. He believes each patient has a unique set of circumstances needing a specific plan and lifestyle changes for optimal health. His focus is on functional blood chemistry analysis; nutritional endocrinology with an emphasis on thyroid imbalances; neurotransmitter and brain health; immunology; and support of autoimmune disorders.
Dr. Smith also hosts A Good Man and Thorough, a podcast where, as a chiropractic neurologist with extensive clinical nutrition and complex case management expertise, he synthesizes cutting-edge healthcare-related news into practical information that actually applies to real cases.
