Jo Gamble
Prior to the birth of her now 17-year-old daughter, Jo was a practicing behavioural therapist, specialising in children with autism and complex learning and behavioural difficulties.
When her daughter became ill at just 19 months old, life would never quite be the same again. She was diagnosed with her first autoimmune disease which developed into multiple autoimmune diseases and required a four-year chemotherapy regime to suppress her immune system at just 3 years old. The treatment was gruelling and made her so unwell.
Having always been interested in the importance of food as medicine, Jo knew she had to make immediate changes to regain control of her failing health but couldn’t find guidance to help her make life affecting decisions. Despite meeting some inspiring people, she didn’t feel there was that one person that could tie it all together, connect the dots, answer all of her questions and support her daughters progression back to health. So, she set about digging to answer her own questions.
She wanted to share her first-hand experience, her learning and determination to inspire and support others to achieve wellness, so she began the journey to create the ‘no stone unturned’ approach to wellness by studying nutritional therapy with The College of Naturopathic Medicine. Her hunger for developing further knowledge to answer her favourite question; WHY? Why do people get sick, WHY do people experience the symptoms they do, and WHY are they not responding to medical treatment?
She embarked on her functional training in 2011 and in 2013 finally fulfilled her desire to gain the skills to support a client to dig deep into the underlying causes of their disease. Graduating as the first functional medicinal practitioner in the UK from the Institute for Functional Medicine.
She completed her Fellowship in Integrative Cancer to further develop her understanding on the importance of leaving no stone unturned, digging until she found the underlying reason behind this disease in order to reboot and rebuild the body for quality of life and wellness.
As well as her busy functional medicine practice, Embracing Nutrition, that can support people throughout the whole of the UK, she lectures at a under and post graduate level sharing her passion for science with her years of clinical expertise.
