Dr Jane Myat
Dr. Jane Myat was a GP partner at The Caversham Group Practice in North London from 1997 to 2024. A passionate advocate for relationship-centred care, Jane champions a holistic approach to health, inviting patients to be active participants in their well-being. Rooted in the philosophy of "viriditas" - the renewal of careful, kind, and vibrant care - she explores ways to bring community and creativity into healthcare, enhancing humanity and flourishing within medicine.
In 2016, inspired by the Transition Towns movement, Jane co-founded The Listening Space, a therapeutic garden within her practice, reimagining healthcare as a community-centred endeavour. Through gardening, crafting, and cooking, the space cultivates self-knowledge, community connection and stewardship of the land. It has since extended its impact through the annual River of Hope celebration, now in its third year, which brings the wider community together in gratitude and creativity.
Jane also helped develop Circle of Soup, an intuitive cooking program she now facilitates in partnership with the charity Cook for Good. The workshops build kitchen confidence and skills, promote healthy eating, and foster supportive relationships and capability.
A council member of the College of Medicine and a trustee for the Camden Anchor, Jane was also a founding member of the British Holistic Medical Association’s Real Food Campaign. Jane serves as an ambassador for the Fathom Trust and the Mayo Clinic’s Patient Revolution. Outside her professional life, she finds joy with family and friends, cold-water swimming and carving spoons.
