Dr Thompson is passionate about supporting a transformation of healthcare towards an empowered Integrative Medicine Model that combines conventional, holistic and lifestyle approaches to support health and wellbeing. She trained in Medicine at the University of Oxford and in Palliative Medicine in the West of Scotland to consultant level. She also trained in a range of integrative approaches including Mistletoe Therapy and Medical Homeopathy, and while working as an NHS Consultant for the University Hospital Bristol, set up and led an Integrative Cancer Care service including mistletoe delivery for over 25 years.
In 2014, she founded the National Centre for Integrative Medicine, a not-for-profit social enterprise, focusing on clinical, education, community and membership services. Part of the movement for change in healthcare includes a focus on education, which led Dr Thompson to set up an accredited 2-3 year master's level 7 Diploma in Integrative Healthcare, focusing on clinical, business and research elements to support healthcare professionals into a career in Integrative Medicine.
