Clare has held management roles in a range of NHS settings. As Strategic Health Authority Pharmaceutical Adviser, she led successful regional QIPP and medication safety programmes both of which gained national recognition, including a Gold NHS Innovation Challenge Prize in 2012. Clare was the National Lead for the Medicines use and Procurement QIPP Programme for the DHSC.

As Deputy Chief Pharmaceutical Officer for NHS England, Clare led the Medicines Optimisation programme and delivered the first national medicines optimisation dashboard.

Clare’s current portfolio includes Clinical Lead for Medicines Opmtisation at Health Innovation Wessex where she led the publication of the first national set of polypharmacy prescribing comparators in England, led the PINCER scaleup programme and TCAM and now leads the National Polypharmacy Programme.

Clare was chair and lead author of the Royal Pharmacetucial Soceity Polypharmacy Guidance published in February 2019 and the RCGP RPS Repeat Prescribing Toolkit October 2024.

Clare is a Royal Pharmaceutical Society Fellow and an RPS Faculty Fellow.
