Catherine is a psychologist and health coach and works as an Associate Professor of Psychology and the academic director for postgraduate psychology at the University of Leicester.  Her personal health journey and that of close family members led her to functional medicine and to train in 2017 as a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach.

Catherine is currently the research lead for the newly formed Division of Coaching Psychology, a branch of the British Psychological Society, and in that role is focused on raising the profile of coaching research and making sure it reaches the practitioners who need it.

Passionate about health as a route to peak performance and understanding the science behind the behaviour change process, Catherine has authored a number of academic publications, books and book chapters and is currently working to produce a systematic review of health coaching effectiveness.

Coaching is the centre of Catherine’s approach to teaching in higher education where she has worked since 2005 and she is committed to bringing a coaching approach into education and supporting students and more recently staff, to thrive in an increasingly challenging environment.
