Carly Wood
Dr Carly Wood is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science. Dr Wood’s research is focused on the impact of nature-based interventions on health and wellbeing and their role in the treatment and prevention of poor mental health and mental illness. In particular, Dr Wood is an expert in the use of social and therapeutic horticulture for mental health, having been awarded numerous research grants to examine how social and therapeutic horticulture can be used to prevent and treat poor mental health and mental illness and embedded in healthcare systems. In undertaking this work Dr Wood has collaborated with numerous external agencies and charities, providing evaluations of the efficacy of Green Exercise and Green Care programmes. She has also published numerous scientific papers, book chapters and co-edited ‘Green Exercise: Linking nature, health, and wellbeing.
