The UK & International Health Coaching Association (UKIHCA) is the leading professional body for Health, Wellness and Wellbeing Coaches in the UK and internationally. They are an independent, non-profit organisation, operating in the third (independent) sector, with no commercial ties. They exist to advance the health and wellbeing coaching profession, protect the public and uphold high standards of ethical, evidence-informed practice.

UKIHCA is dedicated to placing whole-health creation and sustainable lifestyle and health behaviour change at the heart of preventing, managing and potentially reversing lifestyle-related conditions, through a whole person health and wellbeing coaching approach, helping them to be proactive participants in their health.

The Association’s vision is a self-empowered population confidently managing their health to thrive in life. Its mission is to set and maintain world-class professional standards in health coaching, and to support the establishment and professional development of UKIHCA-Registered Health Coaches across healthcare, workplaces, education, communities, and the physical activity and leisure sectors.

UKIHCA delivers this through three strategic programmes. Take the Lead on Your Health empowers the public to be proactive agents in their own wellbeing. Supporting Workplace Health and Wellbeing raises awareness of whole-person health coaching and its benefits across organisations. Advancing Professionalism in Health Coaching ensures the highest standards through education, training, and professional practice development.

Membership is open to students and graduates of UKIHCA-Approved Education Programmes, credentialled professionals via the Portfolio Route, and practising health coaches with accredited Foundation Level training. Membership provides professional recognition, development opportunities, and a pathway to the UKIHCA Register of Professional Health Coaches. The Association also welcomes Affiliate members from diverse health and care professions, supporting their engagement with health coaching and its application across sectors.
