Brain retraining and neuroplasticity are increasingly recognised as evidence-based approaches for chronic conditions such as Long Covid, ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia, based on the theory that many inflammatory illnesses may originate in maladaptive brain signalling. Paul Dieppe, Liz Butler and Su Mason will explore a provocative but increasingly recognised idea: that healing may depend as much on the quality of the relationship between practitioner and patient as it does on diagnosis or treatment. Drawing on research and clinical experience, they will examine how disconnection in healthcare can limit healing, and why acknowledging the emotional and spiritual dimensions of patients’ lives — alongside the physical — may be essential for truly supportive care.

Ravi Freeman will explore the transformative power of sound and the human voice, illustrating how reconnecting with authentic vocal expression can unlock profound emotional and physiological healing, and offering insight into sound as a powerful therapeutic tool.

The day concludes with a panel bringing together all the speakers to reflect on the themes that have emerged. This conversation moves beyond theory to a practical question: what might change on Monday morning? Together, the panel will explore how the insights from the day — about connection, presence and whole-person care — can translate into small, meaningful shifts in everyday clinical practice. The aim is not just inspiration, but practical reflection on how we bring these ideas into the reality of modern healthcare.
