The Need for More Connection and Love in Healthcare
There is growing dissatisfaction with the current model of healthcare amongst the public, in part because of the absence of any spiritual element. Patients are seeking alternative approaches and are looking for emotional and spiritual healing in addition to a physical diagnosis and treatment.
One of the key causes of illness is disconnection: from self (particularly our hearts and minds), from others (including our healthcare providers) and from the energy or ‘Source’ - which has many labels such as Universal Consciousness or God.
The presenters have all separately concluded that what healing truly comes down to, is a transmission of Unconditional Love. Love is a topic many health professionals shy away from, in part because of the difficulty in either defining or measuring it, but if we continue to avoid what spiritual teachers have imparted over millennia – that wholeness (healing) comes from connection through Love, then healthcare will never be able to provide a deep level of support to its patients.
Liz Butler will discuss how disconnection from self – from our bodies, particularly our hearts, makes us prone to emotional and physical dysregulation, and what we can do about that.
Paul Dieppe will present work to show that the absence of meaningful connections between patients and healthcare professionals prevents healing. He will also show work that suggests that both healthcare professionals and the general public believe that Love is central for healing.
Su Mason will discuss the concept that our essence is spiritual, not our body or thoughts which receive most healthcare attention. We are part of the Unconditional Love of ‘Source’ and so Love is a necessary ingredient for our health, which Spiritual/ Energy Healing addresses.
Each author will present research evidence to support their position and then illustrate their findings with a brief case history.
