Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) rank among the most potent immunostimulants found in nature. LPS is responsible for the development of inflammatory response, and is perhaps the most potent stimulator and trigger of inflammation known. LPS causes inflammatory response... which results in the degeneration of neurons, synaptic loss and finally neuronal cell death. Amyloidogenesis, caused by LPS is the most prominent phenomenon in the cortical and hippocampal areas. LPS can also induce characteristic features of PD by causing neuroinflammation and dopaminergic neuron loss. This presentation will address the biomarkers to identify this mechanism years and decades before diagnosis.
